From reddit user u/Melodic-Resort-4869 who read this a couple of years ago and reshared it. This resonated with me, so I’ve reproduced it with minor edits (read: removed reference to God and added that banger of a subhead courtesy Sam Levenson.)
They wrote this pre-ChatGPT…what a time to be alive!
Someone graduated from university at 21 and waited 5 years to get a suitable job.
Another graduated at 30 and immediately landed their dream job.
Someone got married at 20 and didn’t have children.
Another got married at 45 and had children.
Someone became a company manager at 25 and died at 45.
Another became a company manager at 50 and lived to 90.
Obama retired from the presidency at 55.
Trump became president at 70.
Your friends — or someone younger than you — might seem ahead of you.
Others older than you might seem behind.
Know this: you are not ahead of anyone, and no one is ahead of you.
Everyone is running their race, at their own pace, in their own time.
You are not late, and you are not early.
You are exactly on time — your own time.
You are working in the timeline that’s best for you.
So don’t break, and don’t grieve if things seem slow.
You never know what tomorrow may bring.
This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it.
